The gang.. well, some of them anyway.

So, these are my mates. I figure I better throw this on here, so you know who I'm talking about when I start saying names!

Duke

From left to right:

Sussanah: Australian! Yay! from Sydney too O_O
Andrea: Canadian~ Toronto
Me: Australian, I think.
Peter: Canadian, Edmonton.
Vicky: Canadian, Sth of Toronto
Nate: Canadian, Somewhere in New Brunswick (was it St Paul?)
M for Mary: Canadian, Toronto

Kai took the picture, though we've sort of labeled him as the beer. He's from Norway. He's also a viking in his spare time. At least, that's how the legend goes.

Not going to go into detail of course, they're all on Facebook anyway and while I don't like using the service, it is handy for arranging things with the people who DO use it.

Breaking the Ice

So I never pictured myself doing it but I figure, since I left all you mates behind to start life here I may as well go out and find new friends - or at least people to hang out with.

So, I joined a Socializing site for Londoners and people in the area to meet up, hang out and have fun. At first I was a bit skeptical like I'm sure you would all be - I had never done anything like this before so I wasn't sure how good it would be, how many people would actually turn up and stuff like that, I mean this is the internet dammit - who knows what people are really like in person, right?

So last night was a "Night for new members to socialize" event and I decided to go. It was at a small (and by small I mean not as well known as other pubs, it was actually large in size) pub in Leicester Square named Waxy O'Connor's. Very nice venue, it was about 2 floors but each floor was multi-level so it felt even bigger. Anyway, the website hosts reserved an area of the pub for the event which was really good - it made it very easy to find people who were from the site instead of wandering around the entire pub wondering who was who.

Not really going to go into details with who I met there, but I will say that it was an extremely enjoyable night. The last time I remember actually meeting new people was pretty much in school. Since then I kinda stuck with the same friends and lived life normally. This was refreshing though and since everyone was there for that very same reason, it was very easy too. I would've easily met a dozen people or more - and since everyone is originally from the website, it's easy to go ahead and arrange outings, dinners and whatever else.

So yeah, that was my night - I've actually got a similar event again tonight, but with a different organization xD

... I need to get some people together to go clubbing.
